Life in Flux

No one tells you about the changes
About the ups and downs
About the black and white moments that are actually gray

They don’t tell you about the liminal spaces
Where up is down and left is right
Where truth seems cruel
And lies are a comfort

They don’t tell you the crossroads you’ll face
The moments of indecision
The moments of hesitancy
The moments of desperation – heart thudding as the dread claws at your chest

No one tells you about the things you’ll see
The things you’ll hear
The things you’ll dream

No one tells you about the changes
Changes in how you think
Changes in how you listen
Changes in how you talk
Changes in who you are

And yet you must reconcile the changes in yourself
Where you are shaped and contorted and forced into an outdated template
Though if you strive to flow outside of the template, you may flex into a shape more suitable
